Festival for kids highlighted by Healthy Harold Colour Run
HUNDREDS of kids turned out for the Healthy Harold Colour Run at Jellicoe Park in Moree.
It was part of a festival which featured local organisations, activities, and resources aimed at promoting healthy living through a community-wide approach.
The colour run was the highlight of the two-week-long program which engaged more than 1000 children and young people in the Moree region through Life Ed’s preventative health education programs.
A representative from Moree Public School shared on social media, “Every class had the chance to say hello to Harold and learn valuable skills.
“All week long, students enjoyed learning new ideas about health – from cybersafety to healthy eating – it’s been a rewarding experience.”
About 300 families and community members were part of the colour run.
Participants of all ages enjoyed running, walking, and dancing through a vibrant course filled with colourful chalk powder, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The event featured a complimentary barbecue provided by Life Ed NSW and the Lions Club of Moree, along with exciting giveaways from local community organisations.
One of the highlights of the day was the presence of Healthy Harold, the beloved giraffe mascot of Life Ed, who posed for photos at the outdoor booth set up by Moree Family Support.
Susan Grasnick, Operations Manager from Moree Family Support, highlighted the significance of the event.
While children ran the track, parents and community members had the opportunity to engage with local community organisations who shared invaluable insights on health, safety and wellbeing.
“It’s been fantastic to see the Moree community come together for the Festival of Health,” Life Ed NSW chief executive Jonathon Peatfield said.
“The colour run was a big hit with the kids, and Harold was the star of the show.
“We’re grateful for the support from local health providers and can’t wait to return.”
Presented by Life Ed NSW, Healthy Harold’s Moree Festival of Health was made possible with support from the Moree Plains Shire Council, Headspace/Centacare, Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi Community Health team, Miyay Birray Youth Service, Moree Family Support, the Lions Club of Moree, Johnstone Concrete and Quarries, and Chiropractic Life Moree.
