Growing Good Gardens Grants Program previous winners
The Essington School, NT
We created ‘Gardening Enrichment’ – a kitchen garden, through our Gardening Enrichment elective. We want children to appreciate the value of freshly grown food, as well as the ecological interactions that take place between plants, insects and birds.
Zuccoli Early Learners, NT
We created ‘The Secret Garden of ZEL’ – installing two compost tumblers in our garden to recycle food waste to turn into compost for the garden. We also planted vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs to care for. The preschool children made mosaic stepping stones for use in beautifying the garden.
A highlight is now having a beautiful space to visit and garden in supporting our health and well-being, children’s developing knowledge and appreciation of the environment and sustainable practices enhancing and enriching our preschool program.
Proserpine Primary, QLD
We created ‘Little Boots Tuckshop Garden’ – using the grant to transform our existing vegetable patch into a ‘garden paradise’ filled with herbs, vegetables and fruit trees, with the help of students, the garden club, local community members, the P&C and tuckshop volunteers.
