It’s photo day at school and Harold and his friends Boots and Red want to get to school safely and look their best. This is how they do it!
Overview
Children join Healthy Harold to learn about hygiene, healthy foods, the benefits of getting the right amount of physical activity and sleep… plus ways to keep safe at home, at school and in the community. However, while things don’t always go to plan, it’s great to know we can problem solve together.
Life Ed programs are not just a visit, they’re a 4-step multimodal pathway! So make use of the whole learning pathway… Harold’s pre-visit lesson; the Life Ed educator visit; 2 post-visit lessons, booster sessions and the parent communication.

My Body Matters – Tuning In Lesson – Healthy Foods
These 'Everyday’ food activities are a perfect way to prepare your class for the Life Ed visit. The lesson contains fun interactive blocks where students and Healthy Harold learn the importance of eating a variety of foods for energy and growth, as well as the difference between foods we eat ‘everyday’ and those that are only eaten ‘sometimes’. Activities include: • click & play learning • guided discussions • music & songs • evidence of learning activity

Step 2: Life Ed Visit
To be completed with your class after the Life Ed visit.This is the core part of the program. If you have booked a visit with Life Ed, this will be delivered in the Mobile Learning Centre or in your classroom by a specialist Life Ed Educator.

My Body Matters – Post Visit Lesson 1 – Healthy Routines
This lesson explores and consolidates the concept of how healthy routines have positive impacts on our bodies. Activities include • imaginary play • guided discussions • beginner Auslan for body and hygiene.

My Body Matters – Post Visit Lesson 2 – Being Balanced
The students and Harold learn that a balanced life is a healthy life – and includes plenty of sleep, plenty of physical activity and not too much screen time. My Body Matters – Post Visit lesson 3 – Child Protection
These lessons are a great way to provide your class with age-appropriate information and activities in the areas of child protection, protective behaviours, body parts – public and private, trusted adults, body clues, and consent. Activities include: • click & play learning • guided discussions • evidence of learning activity

Step 4: Booster Sessions
The Booster sessions videos and discussion guides are the last part in the 4-Step program. A discussion guide with questions and suggested answers is attached with each booster session video below. To meet all of the outcomes for this module, teachers are encouraged to use the discussion guides to extend student learning and observe student understanding of the content covered.
My Body Matters – Session 1 – My Body
Health, hygiene & safety messages are introduced in the context of a fun story as Healthy Harold gets ready for his school photo day. Top tips for keeping germs away are introduced, like washing hands, and covering your mouth when you cough. Road safety and being safe when riding a bike are also discussed.

My Body Matters – Session 2 – Staying Healthy
Harold and his friends Boots and Red eat their healthy lunches together, which leads to a discussion about nutritious foods and how our body uses them. The video finishes with an active game while students learn how different body parts benefit from exercise.

My Body Matters – Session 3 – Being Safe
Harold, Boots and Red’s school photos turn our great! The kids have grown and changed so much over the last year. This prompts discussion about growing up including health, hygiene and safety routines students can do independently, and things they’ll need adult help with.
